The City of Ithaca Goes Environmental with the Stertil-Koni ECOLIFT

Why did the City of Ithaca, New York decide to go ECOLIFT?  According to Don Parker there were many reasons.  First, he was tired of repairing leaking hydraulic cylinders that are endemic with piston type hydraulic lifts.  Second, he was intrigued with the fact that the Stertil-Koni ECOLIFT only requires 3.5 gallons of hydraulic fluid per lifting unit.  Third, Ithaca has a very high water table because they are at lake level (Cayuga Lake in the Finger Lake system) and the shop is located just off the lake shore.   He was worried that putting in another piston style lift would lead to more of the same problems he had experienced thus far.   So, for Don it was a no-brainer to go with the ECOLIFT and a lift that is only 34" below the floor.

In fact, the day that the first ECOLIFT was installed, a very destructive thunderstorm caused severe flooding throughout the region, took out a huge chunk of I-88 and when Ithaca's storm drains overflowed it caused a backflow eruption out of the trench drain in the garage.  For Don, this was proof positive that he had made a good decision and he followed up his decision by adding a second three scissor ECO-90 model.

Now, Don's shop hasn't moved, but he feels like the lifts have moved to higher ground.
