ETA Transit delivers the missing link between bus and train travel at Tri-Rail.

Boca Raton, FL – May 2017 — Imagine you’re a user of public transit. Now imagine that your daily travels require not only different stops, but entirely different modes of travel; or multimodal transportation. That was the challenged faced by the South Florida Regional Transit Authority (SFRTA)—managing the flow of information to users of 28 its shuttle buses who must also transition into the use of SFRTA’s Tri-Rail train system. Synchronizing the disparate tracking, timing, and station arrivals of both shuttle and rail is, as Director of Special Projects at SFRTA, Renee Matthews put it, “a challenging situation which can present a substantial amount of confusion for our passengers.”

Enter ETA Transit Systems. ETA’s flagship product SPOT® provided SFRTA the platform it needed to accurately display and afford passengers the ability to plan their travels to include both the shuttle and rail systems. Now, when users download the SPOT mobile app on their phones and tablets, or visit the public tracking websites, they are provided with real-time arrival information and trip planning tools that help coordinate a seamless travel itinerary.

The project also included the addition of new, multi-lingual on-board announcement capabilities. “ETA Transit is a tremendous transit partner,” adds Omar Oliveros, IT consultant for Keolis Transit America who manages SFRTA’s shuttle operations. “When we needed our new on-board announcements to support three languages—English, Spanish, and Creole—they developed the solution at no charge, even though it wasn’t included in our original RFP.”
